Writer’s Note: Since I’ve started writing the blogs, I’ve never felt so much in the present than I do now. This being a personal development blog there’s a lot of subjects I can pull from, but I have discovered that where I am in my journey has come to a point of major decision.
Some of the common sayings that you’ve probably heard before apply such as:
Imagine yourself in the future looking back at your life today.
What is it that you would regret if you did not act on your beliefs. If you did not act on everything that you believe is true but were held back by anxiety and doubt.
Anxiety and doubt are part of the difficulties we face when we are not focused on the present and instead focused on many other things that are out of our control.
Perhaps you’ve heard of the serenity prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr and the goes like this:
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.”
When we delay our plans, we often get caught up with the “what if” game. We face a period of what we know is going to be a period of uncertainty and struggle but we lose sight of the possibilities. You cannot lose sight of the possibilities if you want to achieve what you do not yet have.
“It is possible…” is key, “your dreams are possible, but you must act upon them.”
When you are called to act and you do not, crisis occur and it helps if you take a view of a crisis as alerting you to:
1) a behavior that needs to be changed
2) a character defect
3) a vice
4) a need to step up and take action
And what is true is if you do not address one or more of these issues, the crisis will only get worse.
I would characterize this personal crisis in one more way: When you are out of synch with your soul’s purpose, you will have this sense of crisis. Think about it.
This will be one of my shortest blog posts ever, but hope it helps you get a handle on your whatever your situation is.
