It’s obvious and yet it may not be too obvious.
The time you spend with your child will be remembered by them when they grow up.
Let’s just focus on the positive experiences, and again I’ll probably cover some thoughts I do not go over in the video message.
Whether it’s through working together around the house or on a project or in a family business, traveling perhaps, or just doing homework, the time they spend with you will become a benchmark for the quality of the relationship between you and your child.
It may be obvious to you as a father that you love your children, but sometimes love is like a Christmas present, there’s the kind that we want to give and there’s the kind that they want to get. That’s the difference between the Love Present and the Love Gift.
The kind of love father’s would often like to give to a child may be things like discipline and a sense of responsibility. Certainly valuable and essential. But a child sees the time you spend with him or her doing something they want to do as the creme of the creme.
When the child is younger it may be playing silly games and when they’re older it may be more of just listening to whatever they may be interested in. In either case, it’s not an agenda-driven time together, it’s just being together.

The effect on your children has and will have a great influence on their growth. As a parent, you may be feeling the anxiety of having to confront the challenges of being at the end of the rail of the powerful forces driving technology into the laps and hands of your children.
Your work is cut out for you are a father. Even though popular culture doesn’t do well to herald the value of the leadership role of men in the form of fathers, let me tell you right now, being a father in this time and age has never been more important.
