Fatherhood in a Technological World – Message #14
This is a continuation of the conversation about whether children should be given a cell phone or smart phone. In this video I touch on the build up of how to build up a resistance to the peer pressure the your child will experience in school among his friends and classmates.
It will not be an easy and smooth path and I don’t suggest there’s one way to do this, but it will take a continuing effort to shore up the defenses with genuine concern, reason and confidence that your love for your child must endure.
This time I go into more in the video and less on the text. Need to take a break from writing once in awhile (Writing is another great joy and skill your children should develop to counter the trend of short butchered texting and Twitter-prose).
Which song am I thinking about? “Pressure” by Billy Joel
So these are some of my thoughts, how about you? How do you prepare your child for the pressure they are going to jump into?

The effect on your children has and will have a great influence on their growth. As a parent, you may be feeling the anxiety of having to confront the challenges of being at the end of the rail of the powerful forces driving technology into the laps and hands of your children.
Your work is cut out for you are a father. Even though popular culture doesn’t do well to herald the value of the leadership role of men in the form of fathers, let me tell you right now, being a father in this time and age has never been more important.
