Fatherhood in a Technological World – Message #52
Got an Action Item you haven’t followed up on?
Finally I can make a personal development lesson from an auto part which I explain in my video about not prioritizing a subtle reminder to carry an emergency tool in the car.
How many times have you’ve gotten yourself in a jam because you didn’t follow through with the suggestions from your own thoughts or the recommendation of others? Probably more than you would like to admit.
You might blow off not acting on your small idea as simply having too many things to do and because you cannot do everything under the sun, you fatalistically accept you are going to make a mistake of miss and opportunity.
On the contrary, while some of your ideas may be ridiculous, many of the insights and little thoughts you have are telling you something is needed or something is possible and can be of benefit to you or to someone else.
Your thoughts may range from anything from communicating an idea, making a connection with someone, getting some information, doing an activity with your child, completing a job around the house, making or reviewing an investment, taking a class, plan a trip, check you car, or just about anything.
Having a journal or notebook to write down ideas is very helpful because memory suffers the busier we get.
While it may be that insights do not occur that often, if you look for them you can increase your batting average. Be a little more deliberate in taking yourself seriously and follow up with some of your ideas, it may be what takes you to to a better vantage point or one step closer to solve a long standing issue.

Your work is cut out for you are a father. Even though popular culture doesn’t do well to herald the value of the leadership role of men in the form of fathers, let me tell you right now, being a father in this time and age has never been more important.
